Fulfillment of Scripture
Last week we introduced a thought concerning fellowship and this week we continue in Part 2. When we fellowship we are fulfilling God’s will for us to love one another.
Those of use that have been born again according to the Scriptures, share the same Father because we are baptized into the same death.
We must actively work towards becoming more spirit filled. If we can’t be holy in the presence of other believers, if we can’t be civilized without clowning amongst the Saints then how can we possibly be of any godly influence in the presence of sinners?
Fellowship with believers is training ground for us to go into the world to preach the gospel.
It’s not enough to look holy and to talk like were holy but to actually live it. Far too many church gatherings are all about a pretense; but let’s be real not all of the disciples were warm and fuzzy with one another (from the beginning). We’re not all kindred spirits and frankly all of us have some rough edges in us that the Lord needs to work and smooth out. If we’re going to have genuine fellowship we must work at it to see good results.
IF the devil didn’t know the power of fellowship he certainly would move on to other things, BUT because he knows the impact of fellowship he seeks to contaminate and destroy it by whatever means he can.
We can’t experience the blessings of God if there is conflict, schisms, division, animosity, jealousy, hatred and strife amongst us. We must not allow the enemy to come roughshod all of over us but we shut him down in the name of Jesus. What business does he really have presenting himself at the gathering of Saints?
MARKINGS OF FELLOWSHIP
Fellowship is….
- A mending of wounds
- A bridge and a connecting point
- Fuel for the empty stomach
- Like money deposited into a low bank account
- Like spring cleaning of a dirty house
- Like a fresh coat of paint on a dirty and dingy wall
- Like a bouquet of fresh flowers following a hard discouraging day
- Like intimacy of a husband and a wife in the sight of God, it is both right and ordained
- A strategy, strength, unity, starvation, suffocation, and strangulation of the powers of darkness
- It is right, pleasing, delightful, joyful, precious, good, glad, lovely, becoming and appropriate
- It is a beautiful sight to see like the snow-capped mountains of Mt. Hermon in the midst of a hot summer day
Need I say more that fellowship is a fundamental aspect of Christianity
See you next week for the final Part 3
