Prayer Strategies

In Luke 11:1 there were certain disciples that asked Jesus “teach us to pray”. They must have been led by the Spirit of God to ask such a profound question.  It is important for us to understand how to be strategic when it comes to prayer and seeking the Lord. We’ve seen all types of renditions of what is considered the Lord’s prayer as found in Matthew 6 and Luke 11. Jesus was providing us with a framework and a strategy for prayer that we can follow and model after. He was responding to the request and question to “teach us how to pray”.

Prayer is key to an abundant and victorious Christian life.  To walk in strength, we must pray.  To walk in power and demonstration of the Spirit of God we must pray. To know the will of the Lord we must pray.  To walk in the anointing of God we must pray.  To love one another and our enemies we must pray. To walk in holiness and sanctification we must pray. To know the words of prayer we must be led by the Holy Spirit who teaches us all things.

Across the world, the prison system has become a semi-revolving door. Some have life sentences others have frequent stays. The men and women who are incarcerated are often filled with regret and remorse over their choices. Some of them may never turn to the Lord. Some of them are the children of Saints. All of them need prayer.

As the scripture says, children are a blessing from the Lord. They require discipline. They must be nurtured, taught, loved and instructed in the ways of righteousness. They cannot do these things on their own. We must teach them how to pray. We must model a lifestyle of holiness and righteousness that they may by our example follow in the ways of Christ not out of compulsion but because of a desire to please the Lord.

The church is the body of Christ and the bride of Christ. What Jesus died for and gained the victory over seems to be highly coveted by the Satan and the powers of darkness.
